Introductory College Level Experience in Microbiology

Open to economically disadvantaged Bay Area high school students, iCLEM is hosted by the Joint BioEnergy Institute, JBEI, of the U.S. Department of Energy. Chiefly focusing upon biotechnology & microbiology, this experience not only readies students for applying to college but also encourages them to complete research and explore scientific careers.

Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science

Hosted at MIT University, MITES consists of five rigorous math, science, and humanities courses, social events, and lab tours and enables students to receive college admissions counseling.

John Hopkins Center of Talented Youth

Consisting of online courses and day & residential programs, CTY challenges and inspires its students to take on careers in STEM; it is a wonderful opportunity, and all high school students are eligible to apply.

Mathcamp

An intensive summer course for those interested in mathematics, Mathcamp is an opportunity for students to engage in advanced-level math work and assignments while collaborating with others.

Emory University Summer Science Academy

Open to incoming ninth and tenth graders with an interest in biology, healthcare, or medicine, this academy informs students on numerous careers, including but not limited to those in engineering, medicine, and mathematics.

Marine Advanced Technology Education Internships

MATE readies high school students for ocean occupations and encourages marine technical education. It is available in the following locations: Santa Catalina Island, CA; Wallops Island, VA to Key West, FL; and South Bimini, Bahamas.

GSTEM at New York University

Open to tenth or eleventh grade girls with strong academic records, GSTEM requires students to submit an online application that consists of a cumulative and up-to-date high school transcript, four short essay responses, and a letter of recommendation. It lasts for six weeks and occurs during the summer.

California State Summer School for Mathematics & Science

Limited to California high school students and open to those that have demonstrated a dedication & aptitude for STEM, COSMOS lasts for four weeks and is offered on the following campuses - UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Cruz.

Imperial Global Summer School: Engineering

Calling Open to interested individuals, this opportunity is catered to those living in London. If you are interested in taking your knowledge to the next level while receiving valuable guidance and advice on applying to study at universities in the UK, this school is for you.

Integem Holographic AR Coding, AI, Art, Animation & Game Design

Centered at Los Angeles, California, Integem offers instruction in Holographic AR coding, 2D and 3D game design and animation, nature and space exploration, digital art and more; thousands of students from 20+ countries have joined Integem for their cutting-edge resources and opportunities.

Basic

Congressional App Challenge

Introduced by the Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee, this contest encourages students to submit original app designs and articulate their applications. One of the most important goals of the Congressional App Challenge is to inspire, include, and innovate efforts around coding and computer science education. Apps designed may be displayed at the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, and additional rewards may be given.

Future City Competition

How can we make the world better? In this designing competition, middle school students imagine, research, design, and build their ideal city in response to a sustainability issue. Completely free of cost to enroll, and work completion estimated to be under $100, 47% of those involved has been said to be girls. You can register now for the 2024 Future City Competition! It is truly a wonderful opportunity for those interested in improving upon, applying, and obtaining skills.

Intermediate

ExploraVision Competition

ExploraVision is a competition for K-12 students. It encourages individuals to combine their imagination with their knowledge of science and technology to explore visions for the future. It allows students to select an existing technology and develop a team to conduct research and improve it to match societal demand.

MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge

Known as the M3 Challenge, the MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge is a free contest for high school juniors and seniors in the U.S. and sixth form students in England and Wales. It is entirely Internet-based with no registration or participation fees, and scholarships totaling $100,000 are awarded annually. M3 sends out an applied math question to registered teams and highlights the importance of applied mathematics in the 21st century.

Advanced

Microsoft’s Imagine Cup

An annual competition sponsored and hosted by the Microsoft Corporation, the Imagine Cup enables students access to exclusive training, mentorship, and the opportunity to make a difference worldwide. Individuals are given full control over their work and must develop, test, and construct technological applications that can change the world we live in today.
